Once, when I was in search of employment, a major company called me for an interview. 1400, were qualified for this opportunity, the 1400 drew 100 people, after lengthy interviews, the list was reduced to 40, after numerous tests and the number was reduced to 14 people who were hired.
I was one of those 14 people with the opportunity to work for the company with better pay in the region, we had 90 days to prove we could do the job, I decided to do my best to play a very good job.
Long story short, I was considered one of the best workers in my group. An important fact, a supervisor made the remark that I worked with Spirit! What did he mean by that? People use the word spirit! To understand, value, effort, dedication, focus, determination, etc. All this shows action.
But what is the Spirit of God? The first verse that speaks of God's Spirit is in Genesis 1:2
Genesis 1:2 (New Living Translation)
2- The earth was formless and empty, and darkness covered the deep waters. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the surface of the waters.

The verse says that the Spirit moved over the waters, this indicates that the Spirit of God is moving with a purpose, this means something very important to us. First we must understand that the Bible says the Spirit of God is not an active force, the Spirit of God is a person, to check this we see that the word of God shows that God's Spirit, also called the Holy Spirit, has personality.

 THE HOLY SPIRIT SPEAKS...
He "expressly says" that some will depart from the faith - 1 Ti 4:1
The Spirit spoke and gave directions to Philip - Ac 8:29
He spoke to Peter and gave him charge concerning the Gentiles - Ac 10:19-20

 THE HOLY SPIRIT TEACHES...
He was to teach the apostles all things - Jn 14:26
Please note that Jesus consistently refers to the Holy Spirit as "He", not "it".
  HE HAS A MIND...
"The mind of the Spirit" - Ro 8:27
 HE HAS KNOWLEDGE...
He "knows the things of God" - 1Co 2:11

 HE HAS A WILL...
"The same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills" - 1Co 12:11

Also, to identify the Holy Spirit in the Bible, we see that symbols are used in different books.
 Symbols of the Holy Spirit.
Water. Speaking to Nicodemus, a Jewish teacher, Jesus said, I tell you the truth, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit (John 3:5)
Wind. The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit (John 3:8).
Fire. The Holy Spirit came at Pentecost, not only like wind, but also as tongues of fire resting on the heads of each believer (Acts 2:3).
Oil. Isaiah 61, The Spirit of the Lord is on me because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor (Luke 3:21-23, 4:14-21)
Dove. All four Gospels describe the Holy Spirit descending like a dove on Christ at his baptism (Matthew 4:16).
